ABOUT US

African Youth Imagined Futures

 AYIF network is a voluntary non-profit organisation committed to advancing the imagined futures of Africa’s youth through generating new perspective and evidence concerning young people and their imagined futures, supporting interventions aimed at promoting youth development, ensuring greater availability of jobs and improve the life chances of young people in Africa. In simple terms we are an organisation for young people’s imagined futures.

VISION

To be a Youth-focused organisation committed to providing cutting-edge and innovative research, capacity building, advocacy and career guidance and support schemes for young people in Africa. Our vision is to use our programmes and activities in ways that could enable young people on the African continent to reach their imagined futures. We believe that the futures that young people imagine for themselves should among other things serve as a guide post for youth-focused employment and development programmes.

CORE AREAS OF WORK

To promote youth development and or  support interventions, programmes and policies that seeks to provide decent jobs and improve the life chances of Africa’s youth.

RESEARCH

We undertake, consult and collaborate with other research institutions, private sector actors, international development organisations and government departments to carry out cutting-edge and innovative research on some of the pressing intractable development issues facing young people in Africa. Our goal has always been to use our research findings to develop contextually sensitive and evidenced-based recommendations to inform the development of policy and programmes seeking to improve upon the live, livelihoods and imagined futures of the African youth.

Advocacy

We draw on our networks of students, researchers, professionals and private institutions to campaign for the rights of young people and their greater participation in two areas including involving young people in decision-making processes. AYIF is committed to using a wide range of media to campaign and support the rights of young people concerning issues that directly and indirectly affects their lives.

Capacity Training

Training and skill acquisition is a core area of the activities of AYIF. We are at the forefront of providing life skills training for young people in Africa to take advantage of the opportunities open to them in their environment. THROUGH WORKSHOPS, SEMINARS and short term course modules on but not limited to business development, enterprises management and financial literacy and business sustainability, we aim to create contextually driven information necessary for young people to establish, manage, grow and sustain their livelihoods and enterprises
