We believe that conceptually well-informed and empirically grounded research has the capacity to inform policies and strategies seeking to address youth unemployment in Africa. We undertake, consult and collaborate with other research institutions, private sector actors, international development organisations and government departments to carry out cutting-edge and innovative research on some of the pressing intractable development issues facing young people in Africa. Our goal has always been to use our research findings to develop contextually sensitive and evidenced-based recommendations to inform the development of policy and programmes seeking to improve upon the live, livelihoods and imagined futures of the African youth. Our research cover the following specific thematic areas:
Young people, Work and Imagined Futures in rural Africa
Youth, mobility and Migration in Africa
African Agriculture and Policy Processes
Young People, Education and Citizenship
Young People and small, medium scale enterprises
Rural Poverty Dynamics, Livelihoods and Food Security
Young people, and Value Chain activities
